We can have “favorite cars” that we’ve never driven or possibly even seen in person.
Imagine if your favorite food was something you’ve never tasted, or your favorite movie was one you’ve only seen the trailer for, or ok you get the point.

The thing is, it’s pretty easy to see a movie or find a place to eat food. A favourite car can be more easily compared to having a favourite celebrity.

I understand being into celebrities about as much as Prius drivers understand me, so that’s probably a good analogy.

Huh, I'd never thought of it like this. There can't be anything else that can be your favorite in that way

I know I can never afford it, but just listening to this makes the F40 LM my favorite car.

I like to think some of the “favorites” are just like really enjoying visual art.
It’s a fascinating thought though.

People have favorite art they’ve never seen in person...favorite bands they’ve never heard play live...favorite watches they’ve never worn...etc.
Doesn't seem too odd.

Replace celebrity with racecar driver and does that fit any better for you?
